DropIt 是个灵活的自动处理和组织文件和文件夹的工具。当用户需要组织整理文件的时候，DropIt 能帮用户揽下大部分搜索和手动打开移动文件的工作。
用户只需要将一组不同的文件和文件夹拖到悬浮的 DropIt 图标，DropIt 就会自动按照用户定义的分类或者排序规则来定义目标文件夹，压缩和提取，用相关的程序打开它们，执行定义好的各种行为，完成用户交代的任务。
你可以定义过滤文件的规则（名字，目录，大小，日期，属性，内容或者正则表达式），关联 18 个可用的选项（移动，复制，压缩，提取，重命名，删除，加密，打开为，上传，用邮件发送，创建图库，创建列表，创建播播放列表，创建快捷键，复制到剪贴板，修改属性和忽略）。用户还可以定义一段时间间隔来组织联系资料和自动扫描监控文件夹。
